11 week old feeding 4 times a day

Hi everyone my baby was born 10lb 3oz and I weighed him when he turned 11 weeks old and has been gaining hes now 15lb 2oz. He has around 850ml in a day though and this is way under the recommended amount for his age. GP said he should be taking over 1000ml Should I add in another bottle? He'll drink 270ml then on his next feed only want say 210ml. He feeds at 9am 1pm 5pm 9pm.

Mine drank about 90 to 120 a time for about 7 feeds. I wouldn’t worry. As long as they are still gaining, getting wet and dirty nappies etc.

Thanks for that. The GP said I was over feeding him when he had 6 bottles in 24hrs! I thought that was normal for his age he was only 9 weeks at the time.

It’s about what’s in those bottles though. How much they have overall.

@hggg over feeding at 6 bottles a day?! 😳 my little one has just moved onto formula at 12 weeks. He takes 5-6oz and feeds 6 times per day - 3am, 7am, 11am, 2.30/3pm, 6/7pm, 10/11pm.
Usually totals about 29-32.5oz per day depending how he’s feeling. Does your little one sleep until 9am? 😳 I’m jealous 🤣

I know I thought that was silly too. He goes to sleep nearly 10pm and wakes just before 9 and I'll make his bottle. He has 8-9oz 4 bottles a day. I'm definitely lucky by how long he sleeps. One night he woke up crying and I patted him back to sleep and he slept through from then on.

@hggg what a great sleeper 😊 that’s fab!! Sounds like that have the same volume of milk, just over a different number of feeds! My DS was exclusively breast fed on demand until last week when we had to stop so I’m happy having managed to get him into 6 feeds a day! He was breastfeeding about 10 times a day including at least 3 times overnight! 😅

That's amazing that you breastfed him at all, I never did. All those feeds must have been exhausting lol. Even 4 feels like you're giving them milk all the time.

@hggg Breast or bottle - your baby is fed and that’s what matters 😊 definitely exhausting doing all the night feeds though 🤣 His daddy works offshore so now that we’re on bottles he can take some night feeds when he gets home lol

Very true and yeah the sleep deprivation really catches you up in the end. That's good it's best to share the feeds to keep your sanity 😆 DP probably does about 2 a week 😂

@hggg you need to get DP doing more than that! Lol. My DP is so excited to be able to take the night feeds 🙈
