Hi everyone. My LO is 4 months old in the next few days, and she usually drinks 6oz every 3 hours, five feeds a day. She's formula fed.

Recently she's taking less milk, drinking only 4oz, at a push 5oz. I haven't introduced solid food yet so it's not like she's getting nutrition elsewhere. Does anyone know why this is happening? Does this mean she needs to start on solids to make up for what she's not drinking?

Strange, is she teething or brewing an illness? Is she still having lots of wet and dirty nappies? Any rashes, sleeping more or temperature?

She is teething but has been for about a month, lots of wet nappies and at least 1 dirty nappy a day. No temperature and doesn't seem unwell. Since she was very young she's always slept through the night, and had naps in the day. Everything seems normal so I can't understand why.

If there is nothing else that is odd or out of character, I would just do watchful waiting for a bit. If it carries on for another week, maybe call your health visitor for some advice or to get LO checked out

Have you tried going up a teat size? My DD was doing the same at around that age, she’d get bored of sucking so would stop. I went up a teat size and it fixed the problem.
