8 hours without a feed - is this ok?!

Breastfed 7 week old has been going longer overnight without a feed which is great but he just went 8 hours! That seems too long. He is a big boy at almost 12lbs already. Anyone else's newborn go this long overnight?

Yes thy can and mine. Oth did around that age

It changed again later on but I just enjoyed the long sleeps when they happened

I think if your baby generally feeds well, has wet nappies and is healthy it's not a big deal. Big babies can go quite some time as they can take in more food so don't need to eat so often - I read something that the magic weight was 5kgs so bang on for you LO. They'll wake when they're hungry. I feel obvious disclaimer should be said here if you are worried talk to a health professional.

Was he full term and healthy? Gaining weight well? And plenty of wet and dirty nappies? And you’ve not been advised to wake to feed?
If so, I wouldn’t be concerned. I have a breastfed 7 week old who done a 7 hour stretch last night and the only problem was my huge boobs.

Yes full term and healthy. 6 hours I'd think could be developmentally normal but I was really surprised at 8.
I've no concerns about his feeding, he feeds often during the day and is gaining weight quickly.
I expect it's a fluke Grin
I've just fed him and he's 'chatting' away to me while I try to ignore him so he goes back to sleep - he clearly thinks he's done sleeping for the night.

Typically I didn't sleep well as my 4yo had a nightmare and wanted to come in with me which is unusual, he fidgeted for about 2 hours then went back into his own bed.

Yes it's normal, don't worry!
My babies were the same at that age. They both started waking up at night again at about 5-6 months, twice a night 😭 all just part of their development.

I remember ds1 having a fun 4 month regression 🙈 I don't think he ever went as long as 8 hours at this age. I'll clock up some sleep while I can
