Our baby girl is 8 weeks old and I've wanted to bring in the occasional bottle of expressed breast milk just so I can have a drink occasionally or lunch/dinner with friends (if we're ever allowed to do that again!) and so my fiance can feed her sometimes.
I got an Elvie Curve after seeing good reviews and after a friend got on well with the Haakaa (I figured the Curve is the same 'mechanism', but a bit easier to use!). However, I don't seem to get very much out, anything from 10-30ml each feed, whereas other reviewers and my friends with the Haakaa seem to get a lot more (120ml each feed maybe, but their baby is older). Is it more likely that the Curve isn't that great and the Haakaa is better? Or that I'm just someone who's not likely to get that much out via expressing?
I'm just not sure whether to persist with the Curve and see if my body gets used to it and I get more out? Or whether to spend a lot more on a good, proper pump (the Elvie Pump seems most convenient or maybe the Mam one, as it's cheaper)? If it works well then we're happy to spend the money, but it would be a lot to spend if I'm just not going to be able to express much anyway.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with suction type pumps? Was a proper pump any better?
