Tomorrow in the Parentcraft room of Whiston Hospital (downstairs in Maternity ward) there will be an antenatal breastfeeding workshop.

Nicki, a midwife who specialises in breastfeeding, will be there to play games with jelly babies and walnuts, show you hand expression on her frighteningly realistic replica boob and generally put your minds at rest about the entire thing.

Several mothers (including me ) who are currently breastfeeding will also be on hand, to serve you tea, coffee and biscuits ... and will of course be happy to answer any questions.

It starts at one o'clock and finishes at three - with regular toilet breaks.

Partners and other children are of course welcome. You don't have to be giving birth at Whiston to attend!!

Camilathechicken... (is that you Lulu?) yes I'm going, of course I am!! Oh t'would be so nice to meet up!!! (You're not pg... are you? Not that you have to be pg to come or anything!)

Bluenosesaint we're obsessed about tongue tie as we seem to get about one a week on the Friday morning sessions (postnatal, generally, although obviously pg woman always welcome!) Nicki is training to be able to snip 'em herself. Feel free to come along to a Friday morning session just for the brew and biccie!

Harpsi, okay, I'll give you a clue, it's to do with babies that latch on fine after birth and then don't on the ward... try eating a jelly baby whilst holding your nose...

Ledodgy, we also run sessions on a Friday morning, between ten and twelve, it's not a workshop as such, it's more of a support group, but pg woman are welcome to come along and chat!

Rosy will chat with Nicki (is her group I just help) and get her to speak to Radio City / Radio Mersyside... good idea!!!

Any more for any more?

This Thursday, Whiston Hospital, one until three, breastfeeding workshop, free tea / coffee / chamomile tea. Meet the resident breastfeeding expert MW and other Mums who're currently breastfeeding... downstairs in parentcraft room....

Teehee, thank you Rosy!!

Anyone coming to Whiston this Thursday afternoon? Roll up, roll up, learn all about breastfeeding antenatally so you are prepared for it when your little one is born and you are far too exhausted to pick up a copy of "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding"; in fact far too tired to pick up a copy of Chat magazine!

Very good point Mossy. Once the baby comes along you just want to do the most natural and familiar, easy thing.
For me the easiest thing is to breast feed but that is because I watched my sister do it. If you watched your sister bottle feed then I think this kind of group is brilliant for making breastfeeding a familiar idea that you feel confident to do once you give birth.

Rosy you are absolutely right at four in the morning after a long labour you go back to what you know well, not to what theories you may have heard of once or twice in antenatal! (And bear in mind that Whiston Hospital's antenatal classes once included a chat about bottle feeding... by an SMA rep!)

So while I'm here...

Come on you lovely pregnant Merseysiders... come along and find out about breastfeeding.

If you're not decided yet, don't worry, this isn't a sales pitch for breastfeeding; it's a "how to", so if you do decide to breastfeed, you'll have a better idea of the basics.

If you've already breastfed your other lo's, do come along, you never know you might learn something new for this lo; if not, you will still be able to help other Mums.

You don't need a babysitter; just bring your other children along; husbands, partners and grandparents are welcome.

This Thursday from one until three in the parentcraft room of Whiston Hospital.

Come on, you know you want to!
