working and not expressing enough

i only work 3 days a week, mon, wed, fri. on those days ds (6mo) needs 2 feeds while i'm out. i express while i'm at work but only manage 1 feed so the other feed is formula. I've been doing this for 3 weeks now and am thinking I might just give him formula for those feeds and leave the expressing.

My question is - do you think if I skip the expressing on those 3 days, my supply will be affected if I want to carry on breastfeeding on the days I am at home?

BUMP!
sorry, MM, I have no idea. But I am watching this thread cos I'm going back to work 3 days a week soon, and this is a big question for me too.
How many feeds are you doing on the days you're working? I think I'll fit in an early morning, bathtime and 10pm one.. and then ds will need 2 feeds while I'm out.

Yes it may well drop - but I'm assuming on those days you'll still be bf morning and night? If so you'll have enough milk for those feeds and as it's every other day it shouldn't make too much difference on the other days. The best time to express milk is 2am unfortunately.. so I guess it depends how determined you are!

MM-might be worth hanging in there as 6-7mo is about the peak of daytime milk consumption IME. DD, in nursery 2 days a week, dropped one of the two bottles at c 7mo of her own accord (quite a few oz of precious ebm went down the drain, sob sob).I was really struggling to express 2 bottles' worth but once she was down to one I could express enough and keep up the bf thru the week. It is a pain keeping up the expressing at this time but once your DS is more established on solid food it will get less demanding.

thanks for the input.. he is feeding very regularly through the night still so even on days I work I´ll feed at e.g. 6am, 8am then when I get in at 5.30pm, 7.30pm, 10.30pm, 2am. So he does still get a ton of feeds from me. Half the problem with the fact that he is eating so often is that I feel like I have no time to express i.e. couldn´t at 2am even if I wanted to because he´s normally feeding or just fed then..

Will hang on a bit more and see how it goes.. I´d rather the hassle of expressing than be suddenly forced to stop bfing altogether..

Maveta, it's always hard to make a prediction, but I would reckon your supply will be fiine, because you are well-established with bf at 6 mths, and are only away on 3 days a week. What might happen, though, is that you are uncomfortable on the days you are at work - going a whole working day without expressing is bound to leave you feeling full-to-bursting, when you bf regularly and frequently on the other days. This could be a mastitis risk.

Your employer is legally bound to make it possible and comfortable for you to express, BTW, on health and safety grounds.
