Breastfed baby and constant straining!

My dd is just over four weeks old and tends to spend much of her sleep time straining her bowels. She sometimes pushes out the odd fart but appears to be in discomfort. Also, the noise that she makes (she makes these noises in her sleep) keeps us awake . I'm avoiding the usual suspects such as broccoli, cabbage etc but to no avail. Any suggestions?

It may just be her bowels developing. DD had wind of all descroptions for ages! Make sure she is winded as many people (including me at first) believe BF babies don't need much winding. DD actually needed loads!

ha ha. windy baby. totally agree with callme spend 20-30 mins post feed with bub upright over shoulder - i put ds down too soon after the feeds in the beginning and i find he brings up more wind after his initial burps. and it seems totally unrelated to what i have eaten.
also at 4 weeks your dd's digestive system is adjusting. my ds is just over 6 weeks old and has become much more efficient at expellling his wind - from both ends (and he is still just as noisy - had to move him into his nursery a week ago since he is so noisy and all of us have gotten lots of sleep since)
