7 month old bringing up curdled milk all day - help?

Hi, my 7 month old DD has been bringing up curdled sour milk after feeds for 2 days now, she’s also bringing up solids. She’s been excessively windy as well (burp wise - can get 20+ burps between feeds).

I think she might be teething (none yet), but I’ve never heard of babies being more windy whilst teething?

She does suffer from reflux and is on infant gaviscon (not that it does much to help).

Is it related to teething or is it some sort of bug?

Are you sure it's reflux and not an allergy like CMPA? that could make her very windy.

Vicky1989x · 12/12/2020 19:44

@JingleJohnsJulie Most likely is CMPA but she wouldn’t drink the DF formula so the paediatrician just said leave her as she is since she doesn’t have any eczema or blood/mucus in her poo. Told me to wait until 8 months (and sitting unaided) to see if the reflux settles down.

She’s always been windy but nothing like she has been the last week or so!

I've got CMPA and different things can affect me. If she's had a lot of butter, yoghurt or cheese recently this could be making her worse or it could just be a bit of a bug Smile

Have you called the GP?

Vicky1989x · 12/12/2020 19:50

@JingleJohnsJulie I don’t tend to give her too much dairy products in case they make her worse but I did trial egg for 2 days, could be that maybe? Didn’t notice any immediate symptoms though.

@MushMonster I spoke to the GP yesterday who just said if she doesn’t have a temp she’s probably teething or a viral infection.. I don’t have much faith in my doctors though.

It could very well be. If you're not already keeping a food diary, I'd start now. The symptoms wouldn't necessarily show immediately, especially if her allergy is non-ige.

I'd wait until after Christmas, try her with the egg again and if the same thing happens, ask to be referred to the local Allergy Clinic Smile

Yes remove eggs or any other new food you just started.
She does not have cadiadisis by any chance, does she?

Vicky1989x · 12/12/2020 20:44

@JingleJohnsJulie I will definitely do that, thank you!

@MushMonster I don’t think she does, haven’t noticed anything in her mouth and I’m constantly looking in there hoping to see a tooth coming through Grin

Teething almost always makes reflux worse (as does any illness or vaccinations etc).
My DC (a refluxer) also gets much more windy with teething too, I’ve googled it before and apparently many parents report similar!

Of course, it could be an allergy too. So hard to know with babies. But if she is teething, it’s most likely that.

Vicky1989x · 12/12/2020 21:18

@PippinStar Just hearing that makes me feel so much better. I didn’t even think about teething making her reflux worse! Her reflux has never really been under control (doctor refuses to give anything other than gaviscon) but she’s never been this bad with it.

Gonna keep a food diary for a little while but if a tooth pops up soon, then I’ll know it was that!

Also, if you are giving her pain meds for teething, try to stick to calpol as nurofen also makes reflux worse (but is much better for pain - catch 22)! Good luck. I know the reflux is so hard!

Vicky1989x · 13/12/2020 13:47

@PippinStar Funnily enough I was reading about that when I was doing some research last night - will make sure I stick to Calpol! Thank you!
