Covid worries EBF

Hello. I'm sick with worry.

I have a 12 week old daughter, I'm EBF and a toddler. I have absolutely no help or support from family and friends are too far away.

A long story cut short but we've all been tested for coronavirus today, I'm 31 & my husband 39. He's getting worse, currently listening to him cough and splutter downstairs.

What if we do have coronavirus and we get it medium - bad. What will happen to my milk supply? How will I manage? Has anyone had the flu and breastfed? How did you manage??

I know no one can answer this, but how will we cope? An almost 2 year old, a toddler... both of us sick. I just don't even know what we'll do.

Try not to worry, the chances of you both being incapacitated by it at the same time are low. Ive got an almost 2 year old and a 4 year old and I've thought about what we would do before now. Bed/sofa nest, easy snack food for the kids, cartoons, napping shifts between both parents. It wouldn't be my finest parenting moment but it would see us through. Keep up your fluids for your milk. I've had a couple of bouts of food poisoning when breastfeeding and didnt notice a drop in supply.

Your supply will be fine even if you feel pants. You just nest up, get food on delivery and sleep as much as possible. Have been there several times - it’s shit but ok. On the bright side if you aren’t all shitting and puking everywhere there isn’t as much washing to do too. We were less ill with Covid than some of the horrible things kids gave us!

Echoing the room but just make sure you stay hydrated too.

I had covid back in March and at the time had a just turned 3 and 1 year old and was breastfeeding.

It was hard on day one when I was really bad but then I just stuck them in front of CBeebies a lot.

We got through it and it was ok.

The kids both got it too but because my daughter was breastfeeding she got the virus and my antibodies together

Not sure about supply but all the official advice is to keep breastfeeding.

Fingers crossed you are negative or get a very mild case and feel fine. Poor you. I hope it all turns out well.

I was very ill with an ear infection while breastfeeding a 5 month old and caring for a 3 year old with no family around, it is tough but you get through it. It probably won't be as bad as you fear.

Not quite the same but I had norovirus while EBF a 6 week old. I was so worried hadn’t eaten or hardly drunk water for 24 hours - baby was fine didn’t catch it and was able to BF.
I remember being so worried!!
