Cows milk at 1

My DS is nearly one. He's eating more and more food and drinking less and less formula. Was wondering what everyone else did?
Did you just swap to cows milk one day? I'm planning to gradually phase it out i.e when carton finishes
How much fluid should a 1 yr old drink (DS drinks water but not convinced its enough?

Does everyone still give cows milk at bedtime?

Sorry if this is muddled, have cold so keep reaching for hanky

When my DD was about 11months I started giving cow's milk just over her porridge in the morning.
When she turned 1 I gave her a bottle of cow's milk in the moring and formula during the day. Every week I increased the cow's milk untill she was just drinking that.
At the moment (16months) I give her more formula - cheaper than all the milk she drinks. She loves her milk.
Not sure how much they must drink.

I started by swapping the morning milk to cows milk and after a few days when ds was ok with it I swapped the bedtime milk to cows milk as well. He has his cows milk in an avent cup(am) or his cow cup(pm) and he has it cold straight from the fridge. He likes his milk so I have continued giving both lots of milk although after 1 year the minimum is 350mls (approx 12oz) so they dont actually need that much any more, especially as some of that intake can come from milk in cereal, in foods, dairy products, etc as well.

I swapped both my dds as soon as they turned one, and they didn't even notice!

Me too chankins. Not a problem at all. Just switch and see what happens.

Let's face it, milk has got to taste better!

we were going abroad when ds was 11months old so swapped over then. We just did it one day. He didnt even notice!!! i had prepared myself to hav a battle on my hands but....nothing. he just swapped no problem at all!

He has bottle in the morning, plus milk on his cereal, bottle with afternoon snack, then bottle before bed. No idea whether he should be having more or less though tbh. But he is perfect so i think its fine!

Thanks for the responses

TheEvilDediderata - I agree, not sure how they make formula so vile.

Have been giving cows milk with cereal for a few months now and he doesn't mind that.

Reckon we should be ok getting 16oz down him

Ds1 refused neat cows' milk, so I started mixing it into his formula. I would make a jugful and keep it in the fridge, reducing the amount of formula and increasing the amount of milk so that, over a period of about 3w it became purely cows' milk.

He and dd still have a cup of milk at bedtime (they're 7 and almost 5). She likes it fridge-cold, he likes it warm, but has it cold at any other time of the day.

Wow I was so lucky. Mine both threw breastmilk up (I think it must have tasted of hated formula and now they're on cow's milk we get through 18 pints a week!!! A friend of ours could not get her LO to take neat cows milk for ages so they diluted it down with formula in gradual stages. That seemed to work, but it took them about 3 months!!!

My DS took straight to cows milk at 12 months and loved it!. He is 2.3 and still has a bottle of warm milk every evening.
