He seems to take pleasure in pinching me anywhere where he can get a bit of skin between his little fingers.

He pinches my neck, reaches around and pinches behind my arms etc etc so I am left with little scratches all over me and it is starting to wind me up (as well as it bloody hurting).

Please tell me that they grow out of this.

I intend to carry on bf for a while longer (he is only 10mo) but obviously want it to be a nice experience for BOTH of us.

ds (8.5 months ) takes me by the throat

She also pinches and twists sadistically, my arms and sides , clawing me brutally throughout the feed which can go on up to 40 minutes if its sleep time.

I try to redirect her hands to a piece of clothing, or a protected area of my body, but she wants flesh.

My ds1 bite me once while bf he was only 5 months old, I shouted very sternly(because of the the pain) 'No' he stopped feeding looked at me and started screaming I then felt very guilty, I calmed him down and he carried on feeding and never did it again. Although u dont need to shout even young they do understand a firm no

funny isn't it! the more i say no, the more dd does it as well. i try and bf with a jumper on but she still gets me round my kneck and it looks awful.

Yep, would agree with orangehead, take him off and firmly say no. He'll get the message.

I think you're doing really well to be bf-ing at 10mths, and if you can keep it going there are still loads of health benefits for you and your DS even in the second year. Once they start socialising more and picking up all the horrible bugs (D&V etc.), breastmilk is great for keeping them hydrated and nourished when nothing else will stay down.

Good luck.

yes it is funny, i think it is more of a possession thing rather than wanting to cause agony. some posters recommend necklaces or other htings to fiddle with, but i had most success in saying no pinching = no milk. ds 2.5 now and generally strokes my arm rather nicely so it does calm down.
