My baby won't take a bottle

I have been EBF my little girl for 5 months. I tried introducing a bottle about 8 weeks ago now and she still won't take one Shock

I've tried tommee tippee, mam and doctor brown. I don't know what else to do?? I feel like I've tried everything?

Should I just give up and accept the fact she won't take a a bottle ever

Anyone else's baby refused a bottle?
Thanks

When do you give her a bottle? Is it you giving the bottle or someone else? I found if I tried to give a bottle, my DD would refuse because she smelt my milk. We had much more success when DH gave the bottle. Also how often do you do it? If it’s part of regular routine they are more likely to take it and get used to it. DH used to give a bottle every morning whilst I had a lie in (and I would then express milk for the following morning). Sometimes if babies only get offered a bottle once every so often they get confused and want boob so if you can make it more regular you might have success

I have no advice because my baby never took a bottle . I just gave up 😩! From 6 months onwards I started him with an open cup and he took to that well and that’s how my husband gave him expressed milk the odd time I went out without him . He is 19 month now and still hasn’t had a bottle and we’ve never had any issues . He drinks from a cup like a pro too !

Ime you need to be elsewhere op.... Not even in the house!!

Mine did - she was a brilliant breast feeder but wouldn't ever take a bottle. I kept on trying and she might take 2oz or so (I kept trying as I guess I was scared if something happened to me she wouldn't be stuck) but she never took to it....until she was about 1 and eating and suddenly she loved having milk that way.

Hey thank you for the replies

I have tried everyday from when she was about 3.5 months old. She's now 5 months old, yesterday I went on boob strike- she fed at 5am and I offered a bottle all day long (no boob) and she wouldn't take it- at 5pm I gave her boob as I didn't want her her dehydrated

I think I have got to except that my girl isn't ever gonna take a bottle
Xx

My baby never took a bottle. Not once did I get a day off from breastfeeding...! I tried everything. You're not alone. If I ever have a second I'm introducing a bottle immediately.

Yes me too! I did with my first but this time with Covid I didn't need to leave her as I had nowhere to go so just it didn't even cross my mind 🙈 I won't make that mistake again 🤣🙈

Although I do love how she looks up at me whilst she's feeding, smiles then carries on 🥰

Try googling 'how to bottle feed a breastfed baby' on the Kellymom website. My LO took the bottle from DH if I was not in the room for a while before hand!

Pootle40 · 11/10/2020 20:45

Yes he never took a bottle ever from me or anyone else. Tried loads of brands. Just preferred breast so I gave up

Stoaty · 12/10/2020 11:07

My 6 week old is exactly the same... refuses to take the bottle anymore! She used to take a bit of formula from a Phillips Avent bottle, but now she just plays with it in her mouth or just refuses it and gets upset. I’ve ordered some Mam bottles to see if the change in bottle helps? As I really want to be able to leave her with husband or my mum so if I need or want to, I can have some time away from her. I’m getting very jealous when I see people bottle feeding out and about, I don’t know why my little one refuses? So frustrating x

DoveGreylove · 13/10/2020 12:12

I used to get really upset that my baby wouldn't take a bottle @Stoaty I'd also watch other babies and be jealous that the dad or friend or grandparent could feed them. I'll never EBF again if we have more children as I can't bare the lonely responsibility of it.

It was useful for travelling though, especially on a plane!
