Workaround for sterilizer not fitting in microwave...

I feel like such an idiot LOL

I got myself a microwave sterilizer that did not fit in my microwawe (boo hoo) I don't want to bother returning it or buying a new microwave or selling anything, so here are my options:

  1. Just use it without the turning plate. What would be the risks of that? Can water heat unevenly?
  1. Use my regular microwave lid instead of the lid that came with the sterilizer. I can keep the turning plate this way. I'd rather use the original though as it locks into place.

So which one would you choose?

Use it as a bucket for cold water sterilising? (Milton tablets). I found that much easier.

The water lasts for 24hours and it’s 15 minutes to sterilise items.

I'm afraid the bowl is not deep enough to submerge the items completely :( It was made for steaming the items.
