Breastfeeding law

I was just watching the programme Bringing up Baby tonight - they were discussing breastfeeding in public.

After the discussion the voiceover said it was now illegal to ask a woman breastfeeding her baby in public to stop.

Now I knew there have been campaigns for a law like this, but wasn't aware it had already been passed??? Is this right?

yeah I think so

I think it is clouded in new civil liberties legislation....it's not specific to BFing.

there was some chat on here a few months back about it.

Independant article

I'm in Ireland and it's included in our Equality Act of 2004. Is it similar for you in the UK?

Seona1973 · 09/10/2007 23:23

Scotland made it illegal in March 2005

Thanks for link Daisy.

I knew this law existed in Scotland, but didn't know there was one in England too!
