FTM - My baby is 4 days old and bottle fed from birth, whilst in the hospital she would only take 10ml / 20ml / 30ml(1oz) max every few hours, she was just not interested, sleepy and wouldn't really suck when the bottle was in her mouth (many midwifes tried as well) she would spew up sometimes quite a bit afterwards. The midwifes said that as she was born quite quickly there would be quite a lot of mucus in her stomach to come up or down (She was born at 39 weeks, induced due to her being on the smaller side on my growth scans).
Now we are home she is starting to drink more, I got the MAM bottles as I had TT bottles before which she wasn't to keen on. She seems be more keen on the MAM bottles but she takes 1.5oz - 2oz every 3/4 hours. I've just been waiting until she starts smacking her lips and putting her fists in her mouth etc. She still spits up a little bit after a feed / being burped but not half as much as she was in hospital so I'm not too worried about that as I know babies spit up which is normal.
The midwife came yesterday and said she should be taking at least 3oz every 3/4 hours, but she is not - she is quite content, filling dirty/wet nappies throughout the day but I am worried that she is not getting enough milk as she is not taking as much as often as the MWs have told me?
Has anyone else has a similar experience and could offer some advice / reassurance?
