In readiness for my return to work i'm reducing breastfeeds, one a week, so that i'll only be feeding am & pm in a month;s time. DS is 10 months now, used to happily take occasional ff from 6 months, but now won't! I haven't actually given him a bottle for a couple of months now, so could he have got out of the habit of drinking from one? Won't take formula from sippy cup either. Will sometimes take a tiny sip of water but otherwise refuses to drink anything. Am worried about fluid intake esp reduced amount of milk. will he make up the milk he needs from his morning and nighttime breastfeeds? Will he drink from cup if thirsty enough? thanks

So he'll be 11m... could you try full fat milk instead of formula?

he's just 10 months now so no cannot give cows milk as main drink. my question is will he make up the milk he needs just from the am/pm bfs? or drink water if thirsty enough.anyone?

I had the same problem with DS2 and gave him cows milk at about this age - in a Tommee Tippee beaker with spout. (don't tell the milk police )

I also gave him water in a sippy cup and left the rest up to him - I figured if he was thirsty, he would drink more.

I used to get really worried about it, especially since DS1 had been a complete milk monster, but we managed to muddle through ok - he did start drinking more as we went on and it all sorted itself out.

I would try not to worry about it too much

is he eating lots of solids? i would have thought am and pm would be enough if he is.

yes he's eating well, 3 solid meals and snacks on fruit. will persevere with the water and leave up to him to take more milk from me when i am available. thanks

DD went straight onto cow's milk from stopping bf at 10.5 months .. its fine if you want to do that

but it took a good 6 - 8 months for her to accept a drink of milk

do not worry about it .. if eating properly and drinking other stuff he'll be fine
