Anyone managed to continue BFing through 10 more weeks of teeth??

DD isn't biting but she has 4 teeth and clamps on (has always had a good strong suck) and my nips are SO sore. I have 10 more weeks to go until she's 1 - can I do it??? Will i get the necessary callouses??

Ds had his first teeth coming through at 16 weeks. Now nearly 16 months and still b/feeding. it's been up and down, sometimes he bites, sometimes he doesn't.

Same situation with DD - molars now coming through and ye gods new teeth are SHARP! I put teething gel on her gums first and it numbs my nips

my ds got teeth at 3 months. He has 8 now 4 top 4 bottom. At first when he had 2 on top and 2 on bottom he used to bite sometimes ( maybe 2 times per day or so) and I'd quickly "jolt" him off, let him get a little bit annoyed then put him back - he got the message slowly over a few months - now he never bites. It was sore for a while and especially sore if he bit really hard, but at 1yr he is still night feeding. Jolt probably sounds worse than I mean but cannot think how to describe it, I just wanted he to feel a bit shocked)

ds got his first tooth at 4 mo, had a short spell of biting (I always took him off for a few seconds when he did) and then stopped. Now has 7 teeth and never bites.

I found the teeth were dreadful when they first came through - sharp little nippers, but a week or so munching hard food does seem to sand them down a bit.

Also, when LO bites pull her towards you, ie smother her with boob. They say that makes them let go .

If she's not biting but still making you sore, then it may well be positioning that's the issue. I'm in a similar situation to you, here.

I remember from feeding dd that feeding felt different once she had top teeth, even though it didn't hurt particularly. I suspect that a slightly 'wrong' latch might not cause problems when all that rubbing you is a rounded gum, but once that rounded gum becomes a pair of sharp little teeth, then any deficiency in the latch shows up, sharpish!

I think you've hit the nail on the head Pretty Candles! Thanks for that and a very good point to make. I'm sure that's what it is as she isn't actually biting - her teeth are just rubbing against me I think.

DS nipped me just before & after all his teeth came through and it took a while for him to get used to feeding with them there. It was worst when he got his top front teeth I think as they used to leave an impression on my boob after every feed . But it was only a temporary thing - once he got used to them & I learnt how to handle the biting issue it just went away.

He is now 3 & has had all 20 of his teeth for a year now & is breastfeeding without any problems at all .
