Mixing teats

Hello!
My baby girl is 7weeks now. Was born 8lbs 15oz, weighed about 11.5lbs last week. Unfortunately breastfeeding didn’t work out so she was on expressed breast milk and formula for the first 4weeks, and is now on formula only.
We had been using size 1 (slow flow) teats but last week we decided to switch to size 2 (medium flow) to see if she would take more at each feed. It seemed to work well for two days, she was taking up to 130mls, but by day 3 she was crying a lot and again the next day just crying non stop. We don’t know if it had anything to do with the switch but we decided to switch back to see if it helped and by the next day she wasn’t crying so much. But now she’s back to only taking about 70 or 80 mls at each feed and feeding more frequently. She’s not falling asleep on the bottle or anything she just decides she’s finished and won’t take anymore.
My question is would it make sense to try using the size 2 teats at night in the hopes she’ll take more at night and sleep longer but then use the size 1s during the day. (Side question, do you think using the medium flow teats too soon could have been the cause of the crying?)

At this age, you need to be guided by baby. If she is taking small regular feeds than that is what she needs (assuming she is still growing fast)

Forcing her to take more each feed will just stretch her tummy rather than help.

You don't need to change the teat size at all. I combi fed my eldest and never changed from newborn. My boob holes don't get bigger so no need to change teats.

Also 7 weeks is prime witching hour territory. If she is super grumpy in the evening it's likely that and she will grow out of it in time

Twizbe- thank you that makes sense.
(This was my first post and I can’t figure out how to “reply”. When I click reply it just plays an ad!)
