Charlotte Church - lovely comment about breastfeeding

In OK this week (sorry, I couldn't resist the cover photo of their gorgeous baby).

"I can't imagine not breastfeeding. I'm not going to preach but it's better for the baby and the mother and it's such a bonding thing as well. I also love the fact that she's so dependant on me. I think if you can and don't it's ridiculous"

I think this is a fantastic quote which deserves much more publicity than the the stupid things Jordan said.

lazyemma, you did say "Jesus Christ!" at Piffle and accuse her (among "you people" whatever that might mean ) of being wilfully obtuse.
I would call that rude, tbh, when she was expressing her personal opinion and personal experience. I would say her personal experience is as valid as anyone's, notwithstanding she is one of "you people".

Don't read OK type mags (not snobbish, just no time) but though Charlotte looked fab on the cover of the mag I saw- fabulous advert for BF!

Thanks Piffle. And sorry I got shouty earlier.

harpsichord, I've no idea why you're so keen to have another pop some hours after this has all subsided, but asking a group of people if they're all being wilfully obtuse, is not the same thing as accusing them of it.

And even if I had done that, it's hardly the worst insult ever, is it? "you're so wilfully obtuse" "OMG I can't believe you'd say that!" runs off crying

What a terrible person I am.

I think you're right, MadamePlatypus - she wasn't being snide. What she said did get to me, but I picked the wrong word to describe why it got to me.

Emma phew

Look wall get pissed off at celebs types (esp Jordan) proclaiming virtuous and know all things.
I identified with CC because I was 23 when I had my 1st and thought I was next to godliness for my decisions to breastfeed and co sleep)
Tis only since joining this bloody site that I know I'm a lightweight...

no need to bitch, we're all mothers who...

I just thought CC's comment showed how young and inexperienced she is at this whole parenting lark.

As someone has already posted she's only a few days into it and we'll probably never hear if she doesn't actually persist with the bf.

As a thickskinned bottle feeder I kindly overlooked her comment as being of the hormonally driven, "babyloved" up type and won't be surprised to see her gracing the pages of heat/closer magazine falling out of nightclubs as soon as it has the effect has worn off.

Unless "Gavin the Orange" is also babyloved up and stays home to keep her mind at rest over his wandering eye/hands I suspect she'll feel the need to get out and about with him if only to keep an eye on her man. This will no doubt involve smoking, drinking and late nights so someone else will be looking after the baby but clearly, as long as its not a nanny that's O.K.

The fantastic world of celebrity eh.
