Breastfeeding - fast let down and poor latch?

Hi all
My DC is 3 weeks today. Been struggling with fast let-down and baby spluttering/chocking, but otherwise going ok so far.

Today however, my entire boob(s) feel sore. Is it poor latch? I’ve looked online and can’t tell if bubs has a good latch or not. He initially opens mouth wide but does quickly locate more to nippular area - especially when getting sleepy.
Why would my boobs be feeling sore at this point?
My left seems ok but I winced in pain when dc latched on to my right breast.

Any thoughts please? It’s the first time it’s pained like that.

Thank you

Does it feel hot? Could be mastitis if so?

Is it a kind of heavy, bruisy feeling? Kind of like tightness? If so, i get that with fast let down and a very poor latcher.

I have no idea what causes it. I always feel like there is too much milk building up in certain areas? But a bit of expressing seems to help a little, if i massage the painful bit.

It happens every few weeks now, at 3 months old, so has been gradually decreasing. I'm hoping it will stop entirely with time, when my supply settles. I had it with my first too, but then not with any of my others til this one. Weird.

I hope you find a way to cope with it, or find a feeding person to talk to for better advice!

It doesn’t feel any hotter. The best way to describe is an all over soreness of the breast, and “feeling engorged” but I’m not actually engorged. What’s concerning me is the pain I am experiencing when dc latches. When I’m bfing and fast let down occurs, I get a strong tingly sensations and this isn’t that. I really hope it’s not mastitis Sad
