Anti Reflux Milk

my LG is 6 weeks on Wednesday and has been sick a lot and been making some noises which a nurse has advised could be reflux. The GP advised about trying anti reflux milk and gripe water! I struggle to get her to take the gripe water as she borks when I put it in her mouth, and since being on the anti reflux milk, she's only taking around 2/3oz rather than the 4/5oz she was taking before so she's constantly waking up every few hours hungry! She's also not bringing up much (if any) wind, which doesn't seem to be making her uncomfortable but seems to be still making her abit sick! I really don't know what to do with being a FTM and really struggling now 😢

Hi
I've just seen this and hope my experience helps a bit. Also a FTM and know how it feels!
I can't tell you how many hours I spent searching how to help my baby with his silent reflux. I was well and truly going absolutely bonkers. My son was grunting constantly at night, was uncomfortable, and comfort feeding etc
Gripe water did really help. I would give it during a feed and after. If baby won't take it from a syringe then add it to the last bit of the bottle before it is finished. It is more effective neat.
Winding really will help with reflux. But I found that patting his back made it worse and jiggling him up and down. Instead, a really good way is to put baby on your shoulder and hold their bum, moving it in circular motions.
We were prescribed gaviscon which didn't really help. I wanted an anti reflux milk, however, from what was explained to me by a HV is that it thickens in the stomach and so less likely of it to come up. Sounds awful, and can probably leave baby feeling uncomfortable.
Are there any other symptoms other than the sickness? E.g. Mucus in poo, red/dry/eczema, snotty nose etc
These were the symptoms of my son. He is currently on a prescription milk as it could be a potential cows milk protein allergy.
It could be worth investigating. Now, my baby sleeps without the grubting and discomfort. Instead, he wakes us up with his rolling around all night! Grin

It's so difficult trying to find something which helps her being sick! We were advised by a doctor to put her back on her original milk as she was drinking more of that milk and both the different types, she was being sick with! I try and get as much wind as possible up with her, normally after every oz she has but she's always bringing it back up! If it's not straight away it's a couple hours after 😩 every time I try and get a doctor to look into it or give us anything to help they say as long as she's growing and putting on weight then I don't need to worry! Even though she's constantly waking back up fussing! It's only a night that she sleeps okay! I wouldn't even say that she has any runny poo or anything, if anything she doesn't poo very often! Every couple days she normally goes! It's only the sick and the winging during the day that's the issue!
