Blocked ducts???

Hi all, looking for advice here:

When dd was about 11wks old I had a couple of incidents of blocked ducts (I think). A sort of area in my boob that felt hard and tender as if it hadn't been drained properly. Both times I managed to clear it up in 1 or 2 days with hot showers, massage and frequent feeding.

dd now 5 months and i got the same thing again, but it hasn't cleared as well. although not sore anymore the area still feels harder and lumpier than the rest of the boob, and the surface is still a bit red after 4 days. Also looks like a blister on the nipple - could this be causing a blockage?

Any idea of what else I can do? Going to talk to HV this afternoon, hopefully, but thought I'd ask the wise ladies here too.

TIA

Sounds more like mastitus -- which can be caused by blocked ducts, anyway. Self treatment would be the same, but if you find yourself getting worse fast, start to feel feverish & wretched I'd see the GP about antibiotics.

Thanjs zebra. was feeling like that tuesday night, but it seemed to clear up pretty quickly. Do you think GP would be a good idea even though most syptoms have gone/lessened?
