What made you decide to stop breast feeding?

My son is nearly 9 months and is mixed fed. He has 2-3 bottles of formula a day and about 3-4 breast feeds. I've been thinking about when to stop and just wondering how you all know the time is right. He's showing no signs of wanting to stop but I've been finding it less comfortable recently.

I went back to work. Tried breast feeding just at night and struggled with the pain of full breasts in the day. My daughter slept through so there was little point trying. This being 1996, very little maternity privileges so I went to work when my daughter was 4 months old. Stopped breast completely by 6 months. Expressing at work/storing milk there in the day was pretty much unheard of.

I stopped at 6 months as was going back to work at 9 months so needed to get her onto all bottles

I also wanted to feel more like me again.

I decided I wanted my body back. At the time he was only really feeding at night so I guess I wanted to night wean him but I wanted by milk to dry up so I wouldn't be tempted to give in if things got tough! It was a few weeks before his 1st birthday. I might have stopped sooner if he would have taken a bottle.

I stopped at 9 months with DC1 because I was twelve weeks pregnant and he was losing interest anyway.

I stopped at 8 months with DC2 because he nipped me a couple of times and I took that as a good enough reason to stop.

I stopped with DC3 at 4 months because he'd been mixed fed from 6 weeks as he wasn't gaining weight, and by 4 months he preferred the bottle.

I'm happy with how long I breastfed for. They all got a good start and I was never keen on extended breastfeeding. I knew up to a year was going to be my limit. Each to their own, but it wasn't for me.

DC1 he was 16months, I went away for 3 days and didn't want to restart it again as he wasn't bothered by not having it.

DD is 10months I'm planning on stopping at 1 so I don't have to faff with formula and just do cows milk. She grabs my ears and flails like a fish out of water when feeding which I struggle with

I just hated it! Had DMER and some PNF, So stopped at 3 months with one and 6 weeks with the next
