Thrush or caused by teething?

DD is 18 months and still breastfeeding. Lately I have some nipple pain (both sides) during feeds and for a short time afterwards. Initially I thought it was maybe caused by her teething or her latch, as she tends to latch and pull back slightly which I try to readjust. I'm now wondering though if it could be thrush. Has anyone experienced this and is medication the only solution? I'm really reluctant to go to the doctors at the moment for various reasons.
