How to switch to combi feeding 6 months

My baby is approaching the 6 month mark and I’m still having a nightmare with hourly or 2 hourly wake ups every night (since 3.5 month...). I’m debating switching to mixed feeding with formula to see if this has any impact and so that I can sometimes get a longer block of sleep.

Right now I don’t really feed on a schedule, I tend to offer the breast when my daughter wakes up and when she goes to sleep during the day and any other time if she seems hungry in between. Most of her feeds are short, snacky feeds during the day as she gets too distracted so I try to make them as frequent as possible. If I was to switch to combi feeding do I need to feed on more of a schedule to avoid over feeding with the formula? ..so for example. 3 formula and 3 breastfeeds per day?

So what I do is make a smaller formula feed than it says on the tin for her age and then only make more if she still looks hungry. She also only gets formula in the afternoons/ evenings.

I combi feed now and BF in night and morning. My baby is a snacker but though fed on demand, has always feed on as near a schedule as an old demand baby can get! I give 4 formula (total 20oz) and 4 xBF per 24 hours. Baby is a similar age though mine fed 9-10 times when BF in 24 hours and now is 8 times.

So formula has helped a little. It mentally helped me as I was feeling quite pressured to feed so much!
