(DS literally spits out cow's milk )

Mix EBM with cows milk and each day increase the amount of cow and decrease EBM. Make sure bub can use the cup - try during the day with food - offer water (or bottle - I always chickened out on the cup!) and don't fuss if they don't take it on the first night.

Yes, I did. About three hundred years ago. I think I warmed it up a bit. Have you done that?

I started ds with goats milk as he seemed to much prefer the taste. A friend of mine who is a breast feeding support worker that it is slightly closer in taste to bm than cows milk. Ds would never take ebm from a cup or a bottle. I also started him pretty early on a cup with a straw as he seemed to much prefer the sucking action to that of a cup. HTH

I stopped breast feeding at 12.5 - 13 months. If your DC is still that young, he/she is likely to forget how to latch in a week or two. I gave warmed cows milk in a beaker at bedtime (I think it helps them to still suck as it is soothing). I know he forgot how to latch as he was ill and upset a couple of weeks after I stopped and I caved in and tried to BF him as it always made him better, but he was unable to do it (forgotten!), having fed like a maniac for just over a year!!

My advice would be, if you are going to do it, make sure you do it and don't cave in and give a BF. It will be quicker that way.

umm yep .. used a sippy cup (does that count?) .. never bothered warming it up (am far too lazy) DD was 1 day past her 1st birthday (felt a bit mean doing it on her birthday!)

Never had a problem (blissfull ignorance not superior parenting skills btw I assumed she'd drink it and she did..
)

Good luck !

I also went from BFing to cow's milk in a cup. Am trying to think of something useful to tell you, but we didn't really have to go into problem-solving mode as dd was fine about it.

Does your dc have cow's milk on cereal in the morning? To make it a taste she is used to and happy about.

Or maybe have a cup of milk with tea or mid-afternoon, rather than starting with the all-important bedtime feed.

I am sure that having dp do bedtime helped us. I was out of sight and she knows that daddy's boobs are useless so there's no point asking.

We used a proper cup rather than a sippy cup which I think helped.

We also changed the location of bedtime wind-down so she was in her room having a story and cup of milk with daddy on the sofa, rather than in our room which was where I would BF her.

I also remember very clearly that dp and I agreed to give it a go on the understanding that if she cried or didn't like it, I would BF her and we'd try again in a few weeks or when we thought she was ready. I was perched on the edge of the bath, listening in, boobs akimbo, ready to race in and save the day... aaaaand she didn't need me. Hmph.
