Baby's breastfeeding habits suddenly changed

Hi girls!
My daughter (9weeks) had her injections few days ago and she's a completely different baby. She sleeps more (can't complain as she refused to sleep during the day previously) and eats way less. It must be a coincidence as the vaccine should only affect her for 48 hours.

She used to have both breasts at feed (10 minutes each) and now she can only manage one. When I offer second breast she drinks a little, spills it out and cries or simply gags.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Is she simply quicker at breastfeeding? I'm worried my milk supply will go down Sad

Also, she produces plenty of wet nappies and number 2s

If she falls asleep at the breast and after only one I would be trying to wake her gently to feed from the other.

I have found with mine that they have been off colour and extra sleepy for a few days afterwards.

If she is still alert and acting normally while awake with plenty of wet and poopy nappies I wouldn't worry though, just try to get her to feed a little longer at each feed if you can even if it means that you need to wake her a little between breasts.

Oops, sorry, you did say she is gagging at the second breast, give her another couple of days to recover from her vax if she is otherwise ok but if you feel she gets lethargic or loses weight then check in with your health nurse.

Your milk supply may slightly decrease but once she starts feeding better again your body will also respond to that. Keep up your fluids and eat well in the mean time:-)

If you have a breast pump you could use this time to get a small freezer stash of breastmilk if you wanted (although I was never able to express enough to bother with despite having two babies who exclusively breastfed until 6 months .....serious breastmilk supply envy of women who can get heaps lol).

It may be that your milk supply is now more then meeting her needs after building rapidly over the last 9 weeks. You may have a slightly over supply. If weight gain and nappies are good it's probably nothing to worry about.
The sleepiness could be either post jabs or a growth spurt.
Keep an eye on your breasts for fullness and tenderness, and express some off and freeze if you're feeling too full. After a couple of days your supply will level out and match her needs.
