Swapping the bedtime feed for bottle

Hi all,

I have a 4.5 month old DS who has been EBF since birth. I don't want to give up BF but I do want to swap the last bedtime feed for a bottle feed if possible keeping the rest of the daytime feeds etc at breast.

He currently boobs to sleep and I need to leave him later this month so someone other than me needs to be able to get him to sleep....

I was just going to let his Dad start doing bedtimes from Monday on his own while I leave the house and go for a jog or something..

I was wondering if anyone had done something similar and had any tips?!!! I'm a bit nervous about having a screaming baby and feeling massively guilty and just swooping in to breast feed thus giving up.

Thanks in advance!

We did this when my daughter was quite a bit older but what worked for us was completely changing the bedtime routine so she wasnt expecting milk at a certain point. We always did nappy change-book upstairs-milk for example so after the book she would expect milk. So we completely changed it and did book with a cup of milk downstairs and then went upstairs for nappy change and bedtime.
O dont think that would work with a much smaller baby though, as they wouldnt have the ability to comprehend a change on the routine
