At my wits end with Lactose free formula

This is going to be a long post but I really don't know what to do any more. DD 11 weeks was prescribed SMA lactose free formula, despite them only being tiny tins all was well, baby was happy. Then they changed the formula and it seemed to really upset her stomach again and I was no longer able to buy the old one so we slowly transitioned to Aptamil lactose free, now that she's only just got used to it they've changed that one too and it looks like everywhere only has the new recipe. I asked for her prescription to be changed from SMA to Aptamil but the doctor prescribed Enfamil o lac instead, so whether she has a prescription or I buy it, whatever formula I get she's going to have to get used to yet another one 😩 the reviews for the new aptamil are bad and I just don't know what to give her anymore

What made the GP decide she was lactose intolerant rather than cow's milk protein? As I understand it lactose intolerance is pretty rare as breastmilk also contains lactose.

DD had terrible smelly wind which seemed to cause her pain, and whenever she did a poo it was like a dark green colour and was literally liquid and explosive so that's what they said it probably was. She still is quite farty and her poo isn't exactly solid but I put that down to constantly changing brands of formula. I'm off to Google cows milk protein allergy now as they never even mentioned it

Lactose intolerance is really rare in babies. Breast milk still contains lactose. But the terminology is still a bit outdated or misunderstood. Cow milk protien allergy is really common. If she is reacting to the new milk request a dietician referral. Or talk to your health visitor about it.
