Could this be mastitis?

Currently breastfeeding DD3 for 7 months. This morning I woke to one of my breasts feeling bruised. As the day has gone on I'v started to feel shivery plus headache. Have pumped and a few other things. Does this sound like mastitis?

Yes it sound like it could be. Have you drunk lots of water today so your not dehydrated. Also if it is hot to touch and a redness I find are signs for me. I have found in my experience best to hand express to see if I can shift it whilst also feeding as much as possible. Please ring gp if you are worried or if you get any worse as it's horrible. (I am not trained by any means just didn't want to read and run.)

@justfeellikedancing42nite thank you. There's nothing visually wrong, it's just incredibly painful to the touch. I woke DC up at 4am to feed. I'll see how it goes today I think, whether I can shift it. It's frustrating that nothing like this has happened before but now it has when all health services closed/reduced.

How are you @soomuchpain? I'm in a similar boat - bruised feeling left breast, no chills but red patches have come up. I'll ring GP before they close for the weekend but wondered how yours worked out?

@sulkysukey I'm much better today thanks, still a little pain left but nothing like a few days ago. The chills luckily only lasted that one night. I pressed my electric toothbrush against the bruised area, had a hot shower and pushed on the bruised bit whilst in there. Also fed DD whilst she lay down and I hovered above her. Can you feel a lump? I had quite a sizeable hard area.
