Sorry if these already a post on these, I can't see anything but I'm on the app which isn't great..!

Has anybody tried these shields?
Are they worth it?
Is there something better?

I'm expecting my first baby in a few weeks and I'm not sure if it's worth picking up some nipple shields or trying to feed with no aids and plenty of cream?

Any advice is welcome!

I would try first without shields, while they can be a life saver (they were for us until I decided to express) they stop baby from removing milk as effectively from the breast, I still had to express once a day whilst using them.
They are a faff, getting them in the right place, getting them to stay there, (I ended up with bruises all over my boob because the shield had slipped off my nipple and I couldn’t tell!)
My maternity unit provided mam shields when I needed them

Ah ok, thanks @dochas06, I've just heard horror stories of cracked nipples and baby not latching correctly so I wasn't sure if they were a work around so to speak to avoid the initial pain!

Even with nipple shields, it can still be uncomfortable. In our antenatal classes, they definitely weren’t recommended to start breastfeeding with.
You would also have to wean baby off them and onto nipple if you stopped using them.
