Baby used to slow flow teat

Is there anything wrong with 2.5 month old still using a newborn teat with the slowest flow? Im using MAM and the bottles came with size 1 teats. I used them for some time before ordering size 0 as baby was coughing/spluttering during feeds and taking in air. Also because I am BF too and read that using slow flow teats might prevent baby from preferring the bottle over the breast.

However I thought he might need to go back to size 1 teats but when I tried it he hated it, spluttering much worse than before. So have I inadvertently made it worse as he can’t handle the size 1 teat at all? Is that ok?

He is gaining weight fine.
TIA

Nothing wrong with it! I combi fed DS1 and he stayed on size 0 teats (Avent) for months - I think the fact he had to work for the milk stopped him getting bottle preference. I only moved up to size 1 when his milk intake went up and it started taking him so long to finish a feed that I could see he was getting frustrated.

I never increased the size on my sons bottle teats - we were combi feeding too. My logic was that nipple a don’t change! He still has a breastfeed a day and he’s three.

Hello!
My baby is bottle fed and not combi fed but I would say if you're baby is happy and able to drink well then keep with what you're doing!

My baby has just turned 5 months and is one size 2 teat. I know it was time to go up from a 1 as it was taking him forever to finish a bottle and he was often falling asleep after only a couple of ounces! You could see in the way he was sucking too. He was having to take lots of sucks to fill his mouth before swallowing.
It took him a couple of days to get used to the 2 being faster but he managed fine.

Sounds like you're doing great!
