Introducing formula at 6 months

I want to continue BF, but I also want to add a bottle of formula to little ones diet.
When would you say is the best time of day to give this? I was thinking at bedtime? X

I think it depends on what works best for you in terms of time for sterilising, prep etc. And be aware that dropping a feed will impact your supply, so you will want to pump instead, at around the time of the feed you're changing for formula.

Do you mind me asking why you want to introduce formula?

Well.... I’ve not had an easy breastfeeding journey and I have been taking it kinda month by month. To get to 6 months is mind blowing for me and I just feel it’s the right time to add some formula.
I have a fantastic Elvie pump which I use to express now, so will have no problems expressing when to make up for formula feed x

Brilliant! And congrats on making it to 6 months, i know how tough it can be, and you've done a tremendous job for your baby. I'd say do the formula bottle wherever it's easiest and most convenient to you. Does your LO take a bottle?

Thank you 💜
I bought some formula at 3 weeks as I was ready to give up then, but I kept going and I’m glad I did as it definitely has got easier.
I also started expressing early on which I have really really enjoyed, & yes my son takes the bottle no problem.
His feeding is much better, but sleep worse than when he was a newborn 😩. I’m napping more now than I did when he was a few weeks old lol x

We started with a bedtime bottle so I could get a good rest at the start of the night, took about 3 weeks for him to accept it from my partner every time. The whole 'it makes them sleep better' line is bollocks btw :p

@LivingDeadGirlUK- oh darn it! I thought I’d be able to fill him up a bit more with a bottle ha ha. Oh well......it would be nice to let my Husband do the bedtime feed to give me a little break. I think I’ve earnt it 😉 x
