Reflux

My son is 10 weeks. He's been put on nutragimen and omeprazole. Last week he seemed much better but yesterday and today he is really sicky again and unsettled. Proper projectiled over my shoulder. He also had a tiny bit of mucus in his poo the other day. I'm at my wits end! Anyone been through this and found a solution to help?

My now 9 month old was very bad. he screamed all day with colic and reflux. Get him to a cranial or osteopath. In our case the mill was disagreeing with him causing the colic and reflux. Eventually put on goats formula which did help things. I've been there. It's so tough on baby you and the rest of the family.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it's so hard isn't it! I weighed him and he hasn't put on much in two weeks. Looked at the curve on his chart and hes levelled out rather than going up. He was good on omeprazole for a week then it's got bad again. Also I've noticed he only has a max of 4 really heavy nappies a day. It's a struggle to get him to have more than 17oz a day sometimes

That very tough. I'm in Ireland and had my baby admitted into hospital. Not sure where you are but no harm getting him seen by the paeds team in the hospital where he was born. Best of luck . I know it doesnt help but there is light at the end if the tunnel. 9 months on and it's a distant memory. It will be you before you know it.

I am going through the exact same thing as you with my 1 month old baby, he is also on nutragimen and omeprazole. It is 02:45 in the morning and I've had to come out for a drive in the car with him as he has been screaming for hours and in so much pain. I feel like a helpless emotional wreck at the moment and it is heartbreaking watching my baby in so much pain 😩! Praying this will get better soon! But I totally understand what you are going through right now x

Aw @JemHumps10 thank you and so sorry yours is in pain too. We've now been referred to a paediatrician so I'm hoping we can get some help. Little man only had 15oz yesterday and just wont have more. Will keep this updated in case it's of any use. Take care @JemHumps10 your not alone!

I think with reflux there can be a bit of up and down. So improvement like you've seen, then a few bad days, then improvement. It won't be a linear improvement

Presume you're doing all the obvious things like keeping baby upright to feed and afterwards and sounds like the milk and medication you're on is a great place to start. Hopefully the paediatrician can shed some more light.

It does (or should) get better, we really turned a corner at 4 months. I can barely look at photos from before then as she seemed so unhappy.

We've just got back from A&E as he was screaming so much I couldn't take anymore. Saw a really lovely paediatric doctor who did babies obs which were all normal thank god! We've just got to keep riding the storm with the medication and milk 😩... he's finally fast asleep now but we have literally been up driving around all night trying to settle him!
The doctor said her main concern was us as parents, we need to be kind to ourselves and look after eachother as baby is absolutely fine apart from this reflux which he will get over eventually (so I'm told)...
Stay in touch, your not alone 💙 I'm trying to decide what I need more right now whilst he sleeps - food, shower or sleep haha! Stay strong and positive xx

@JemHumps10 I'm so glad they were good at the hospital. The screaming really can get to you after a while. And you feel so helpless.

Most days I've been in my pjs all day! Ha Xx

The doctor we saw said her baby had exactly the same and she had really bad depression over it so please look after you!
Shame we probably live miles apart otherwise we could have been mum buddies as our babies sound identical 🤣! always here if you need someone to just vent too anyway x
