What cereal are you giving her?

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 02:59

How much of the cereal are you giving her?

Rajjo · 20/04/2020 03:07

Usually we will put a scoop or 2 to the milk that she does not finish.. and she will finish that.

A scoop of what?

And how often?

Lynda07 · 20/04/2020 03:10

Let her have the cereal with milk, at least she's getting some. However there are many who do not like milk and grow up quite healthy, eating a variety of things that have the same vitamins and minerals.

Thinking about it, my son was never mad about milk as a small one, it didn't bother me. He ate cheese once he was old enough, loved that. Now at forty he drinks loads of milk. People change.

The cereal probably sweetens the milk so she has gotten a taste for it. Has nothing to do with her appetite - she is probably eating more than she needs because babies aren’t equipped for solids until 6 months. I would stop the cereal asap and just feed formula.

Mammyloveswine · 29/04/2020 06:20

Please do not add anything to your child's bottle, it is a choking risk!

4 month olds shouldn't be on solids anyway! It has been the advice to wean at 6 months for bloody years!!

crazydiamond222 · 29/04/2020 06:29

What is her weight gain like? Maybe she is not hungry enough to want the additional milk.

I started weaning a bit early at 5.5 months, advice in most of europe is 4 to 6 months and my son was ready but I would definitely not be adding solids to a bottle. What cereal are you using? Ground oats could be a healthier alternative mixed with formula or milk and spoon fed.

crazydiamond222 · 29/04/2020 06:31

Sorry I meant formula or breastmilk above (babies should not have cows milk)

CorkingHell · 29/04/2020 06:52

In my NCT group one of the baby's just stopped taking breast milk and bottle. Mum tired everything. In the end the she had a strew type cup with milk in and offered it through the day. She also snuck milk into food as much as possible. The baby was 7 months though and on 3 meals a day. Since you baby is so young I assume they aren't having much food.
Maybe seek advice from HV and feeding experts.
