Breastfeeding + paracetamol

I have horrendous tonsillitis, started when I woke up yesterday. Have been prescribed antibiotics but it’s worse today, I can’t speak and swallowing is incredibly painful. Have been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen but I’ve taken the 4 doses allowed in 24 hours and the last will wear off about 9. Does anyone know how bad it would be to take one more dose (2 tablets) so I can try and get to sleep? I am more worried about the effect on my milk and the baby than about myself. I will try and spread the doses out better tomorrow!

The effect on breastfeed is irrelevant. It doesn't take much to overdose on paracetamol. Please don't do it for your own health. I'm sorry you feel awful but it's not worth the risk.

What the PP said but I really wouldnt advise it especially when you have a newborn even if it doesn't transfer in the milk which it easily could, what if it makes you overly drowsy and you are not able to care for baby properly?

Having tonsillitis and a newborn must be horrendous.

How are you feeling today?

Thanks everyone, you were right and I didn’t risk it. Got more sleep last night so feeling slightly better today! Luckily have a very supportive partner who has been incredible helping out. Thank you for asking!
