Tongue tie procedure during lockdown

Hi everyone

We were scheduled to have a tongue tie snipped this Monday at St George’s hospital in Tooting- we have a breastfeeding specialist through the nhs and she referred us. The hospital marked it as urgent. However I’ve just received a text to say that it will be a telephone appointment. I do understand that they can’t take any risks during this time but I’m worried it’s not going to get fixed until the lockdown ends. I’ve not been able to breastfeed at all and I’ve been trying to keep my milk going by expressing. She had IUGR so I’ve been giving her formula to help her catch up. The midwife said her tongue tie is very significant and it’s very painful for me to get her on the breast, even with nipple shields. Does anyone have any private recommendations in the south London/ Surrey area? I’m close to giving up :(

Hi!
We went privately to Dr Shah in Ashford. He was amazing and now 16 weeks in, we are doing amazingly!
I would never still be feeding now if we didn't get it done.
I do really feel for you!
Xxx

I would have thought they would class this as an essential service and can manage the risk for this.

We had a posterior tongue tie and could not feed without clipping. It was a tough few weeks I really feel for you.

Well done for keeping up expressing, I hope you get sorted soon. Xx

@elvis4nuts thank you, I’ll have a look!
@bookish83 thanks, yes I would say it’s essential too. I’m going to try and speak to the hospital but I guess if they have stopped doing them there is little I can do. Hopefully I will find a private midwife to do this ASAP but I could have booked it 2 weeks ago whilst waiting for this appointment.

I had a 'telephone appointment' for DD's jabs a few weeks ago.

It turned out to be a call in the morning to check we didn't have symptoms, then we were asked to come in that afternoon. Might be the same for you?

@PaulinePetrovaPosey oh I really hope so! Fingers crossed. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments. Thankfully I had a phone call first thing to say the texts were sent in error and to please come in person. It’s all done and I’m hoping we can now give breastfeeding another try.
