DS2 25 wks (my 3rd dc) His arm just flies up and down he goes for my hair my face and just flings his arm around madly fast.
I am getting good at avoiding and in night feeds I can old it and he is fine but not during the day.
This is ont the calm wonderful image I had of mother calmly nurturing and sustaining her tender child....

Is he in need of a baby ASBO

Oh Piffle I do feel for you, my dd is 25 weeks too! And she only feeds calmly when really tired. She pinches, grabs, scratches, goes for the hair and has now got teeth and bites me!

There was lots they didn't tell us about this breastfeeding lark, IMO - I mean, you see none of this behaviour in those lovely black and white piccies in the sonography waiting room!

Feelin' for ya

whomovedmychocolate · 12/09/2007 22:36

You need to get some nursing beads for him to hang onto. Although DD (10 months) now has her arms pinned to her sides during feeds for this very reason. I have so many bruises on my upper arms I look like I've been in a horrible accident

I also tie my hair back before feeds to avoid the 'Wurzel Gummidge' look afterwards.

my 5 week old has just started messing about while I'm feeding him. I always feed him in the football hold and he kicks his feet against the back of the settee, arches his back, flails his arms or pushes them against my boob so his mouth is forced off my nipple (ouch) then he screams

Not to mention the teeny scratches all over my boobs, his nails are lethal.

Very frustrating!

Piffle · 12/09/2007 22:57

oh he is about to get his first 2 teeth
I have much to look fwb to...
if I put anything to play with near my neck he simply zones out and refuses to feed...

me too. although he has recently discovered my necklace and now hangs onto that, or yanks at my top and stretches the neckline ! that combined with bobbing on and off to grin and have a look around...

what are nursing beads ? are they for this purpose ? otherwise i may just put him in a straitjacket

numptysmummy · 13/09/2007 12:07

Dd2 is 14mths and has been violent since she was about 6mnths too. Her favourite thing at the moment is trying to find the other nipple so she can twist it. She manages to get her hand indide my bra - i'm not sat with them hanging out! Must be a market for baby restraining suits!

determination · 13/09/2007 15:04

piffle, think its time you got a Nursing Necklace they work wonders with redirecting attention

Piffle · 14/09/2007 18:37

I think I might try one of dd's threading bead laces thus...
Good idea I reckon!

Hi just saw this thread and i was in hysterics but also felt so much better, ds2 is exactly the same pinching, hair pulling face slapping and feeding necklace did not work, he just pulled it of and used it as a weapon . I also tie my hair up and try tucking my top into my jeans waistband on non feeding side so he cant tune into radio 1 using my nipples!

EffiePerine · 16/09/2007 17:02

DS does this, also tries standing up when feeding and twisting about (he's nearly a year now)

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2007 20:23

i get punched and my top gets pulled as well If i pin his arm down he stops feeding until i release it!
silly question - those beads - are they not a huge choking risk????

determination · 16/09/2007 21:23

for who? the mum?! They are worn by the mumto redirect the babies attention. I have a pair but i got mine from joyzjewelz and think they are fantastic

TerryStealthPolarBear · 16/09/2007 21:32

Well DS grabs my top and twists, pretty much choking me with that - could he not do the same?

determination · 16/09/2007 22:38

yes, he could, but it is unlikely as he would be so facinated with all the different colours, shapes and textures.

ThomasTankEngine · 16/09/2007 22:40

wrap his arms in a muslin?

tricky feeding with 2 other dcs distracting, i know.

Piffle · 17/09/2007 09:47

I might just try apinting something near my boobs...
That si where he needs to bloody focus
up on my neck is not good, my nips can only stretch so far...
