I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding and my baby is now 8 weeks old. She used to have very long (40 min to one hour) feeds, feed on both sides and have bouts of cluster feeding etc. The past week she’s started having much much shorter but more frequent feeds..she feeds for about 5-7mins in total and only from one side about every 1.5 hours (day and night).
I’ve tried to wake her up by changing her nappy etc to get her to take more but she’s not interested and either falls asleep on the breast or screams if I try to offer more. She’s still gaining weight well as I have some home scales but it just doesn’t seem right. My boobs feel really full and I’m having to express as she hasn’t ‘finished the job’..whereas before they felt soft not I feel permanently engorged and leaking lots more.
I think she does have silent reflux but I’d opted out of using gaviscon due to the good weight gain she has and risk of constipation. She’s always been a fussy eater but never had this short snacking style feeding before
