When to express

Hello

My DS is 3 weeks old and I am wondering when you started expressing?

I have done the odd expression when I've been engorged, which has then been bottle fed to him later on but my DH is keen for me to express to build up a bit of a stash so I can leave the baby and not worry or have a sleep and he can feed him etc.

However, everything I'm reading says wait until your milk is established which can be weeks/months but my mum started expressing pretty much straight away with me and I know plenty of other women express early on.

So anyway, just wondered when people started expressing, and also how often?

You can express before supply is established you just have to be more consistent. So if you're wanting to store it express anytime he has a bottle (that's the important but early on) and for extra after a feed at the same time every day so your established supply includes some going to storage.
