Hi all

Currently 36 weeks with dc1.
For various reasons will be formula feeding from birth - please don’t jump all over this thread if you only want to lecture me on bf and what a terrible human and parent I already am for not doing it!

I need to ff the baby but recognise that a risk with it is over feeding and obviously want to avoid this. Whilst every baby is different, does anyone have any suggestion about how much is too much va too little or any suggested resources to help me ensure the baby doesn’t go hungry or more likely get over fed!

There's a guide on the packaging to approximately how much formula the baby should have.

Also, Google "paced bottle feeding" to get an idea of how to feed on demand using formula and follow baby's lead.

Yes there is some great advice from the Caroline Walker Trust in this guide. Between 7 and 9 months they should be having 600 ml of formula a day dropping to 400 ml a day between 10 and 12 months.

Most of the advice on the NHS websites say the day although sone of them do have the old advice which was 20 floz or around 600 ml between 6 and 12 months.

Once they reach 12 months you can swap to full fat cows milk and give 300 ml a day until they are two Smile
