i remember reading somewhere that babies should not use a bottle after 12mo. my dd uses a tommy tippee for water during the day and at meal times but still has a morning and evening botle of formula from a bottle. any ideas what i could use instead? i've tried all the various cups with valves as well as the avent magic cups but she cant manage them. she will drink a bit from a doidy but not when she is tired ( nightime) or desperately thirsty (first thing).

NO!!!!!

It really doesn't matter IMO.

AS long as it doesn't have coke or ribena etc in it then its fine. 12 months is still very young. And lots of children are attached to them . Its not that easy to suddenly switch from something they are used to and makes them happy.

She'll stop one day

My 2 1/2 yr old dd still has one but she loves it, I think she looks really cute and she's so grown up apart from this one thing.

my ds has just turned 1, he has an avent beaker type thing with handles during the day with juice in (which he does himself)and a bottle of milk in the morning which we do 'between us' and he has a bottle just before bed, which again we do 'between us'. i have no intention of stopping him from having his bottle until he is ready. What harm can 2 bottles do him?

My theory is that he will be happy to drop it himself when he gets the hang of his beaker fully. - Although i could be wrong!

phew - just the reassurance i was hoping for! i'll leave her be!

i AGREE WITH READ MY LIPS.. sorry about caps.. ds just turned one, has bottle first and last thing, then tommy tippee in the day with juice

BTW ds had a bottle of milk, well a half bottle of milk till he was about 2ish. Morning and night.

Dd has a breastfeed morning and night and she just turned 2. Thats a different story all together!
