My DD is two weeks and we had been exclusively breastfeeding until we both developed thrush. As it was very painful for both of us I used nipple shields to maintain my supply and also introduced one bottle of formula a day as she wasn’t feeding as much with the shields. DD has now developed nipple confusion. The problem is with the latching. She tries to latch and feed in the same way as with a bottle resulting in nipple feeding and sore nipples. Even when I get the latch right she moves to a nipple feeding position. Does anyone have any experience of how to resolve nipple confusion effectively?
