Hipp organic and dirty nappies...

One month old DS is combi fed.
He was on Aptamil ready made and was dirtying nappies 7-8 times per day.
Switched to aptamil first milk and this stayed the same for a few days then seemed to settle at 1-2 dirty nappies but MEGA full dirty nappies.
We were recommended Hipp Organic because he has reflux and since switching to it yesterday he has been doing 3-4 dirty nappies and they are again mega full, but also seem to happen in quicker succession.
Ie two in two hours in the morning then wet nappies until the evening when we will get a couple more.

Just wondered if anyone else has had the same when switching to Hipp? He’s not dehydrated as we have lots of wet nappies (and he likes to wee on me most nappy changes!) and consistency is normal, yellow and “seedy” (he’s breastfed as well as formula top ups).

It’s just the change in frequency and volume that’s made me wonder!

If he's a month old and you've already had him on three different types of formula (albeit I'm not sure there's that much difference between them), then you're not really giving any one formula a chance to settle.

That said though, newborn babies poo a lot and 7-8 times a day doesn't sound all that unusual to me. Do you actually have any concerns about his health, ie does he seem to be in pain when feeding/pooing? If not, then I don't think you have anything to worry about, just give it time.

Thank you.
He doesn’t seem to be constipated but he gets quite red and strains when he’s trying to fart.
I think I’m going to leave him on this formula as like you say he’s not really been on one long enough. He did a few more dirty nappies yesterday, but they do seem to be changing in frequency and volume! I’m going to give it a week or so and see if it settles into a pattern - they look an okay texture and colour.
He’s doing about 3-4 sometimes 2 now and does do a bit of grunting when he goes but a fair few of them have gone unnoticed so it’s not every time.

Sorry for rambling! I think they might change depending on whether he breast fed or had formula most recently as well

He's very young and not really had time to settle with a formula yet, neither of mine have had predicable poo schedules that soon- my 10 week old is still a wild card.

Personally I prefer HIPP to aptamil, HIPP is different to your Aptamil/sma/mamia etc (which are basically the same) and I found my DDs constipation and reflux were much better with HIPP. Give it time for his tummy to adjust.

I will do thank you. I like the texture of Hipp better it seems less bubbly and he seems less red faced and uncomfortable with it - that combined with gripe water does seem to be making a difference
