Newborn Day 7 feeding problem

Hi,
Our DD is 7 days now, she started feeding well from Day 0-4 (66ml day 0 to 420ml day4) and then suddenly dropped her intake (375ml -> 292ml day 4->5) and where earlier she took 50+ml every 3hrs, now she hardly takes 25ml every feed. Getting really worried, pls advise if this is normal as she is weeing and pooing well. Could it be Mam anti-colic bottles as earlier she was on the ready to feed bottles? Pls advice as the 7th day has already been poor so far only 40ml combined over 2 feeds

Is the bottle teat the right size/flow? If it's too difficult for her to get milk she might be getting tired before finishing her feed? A good amount of wet and dirty nappies is reassuring though. Is she well in herself? Is she jaundiced? Any concern about weight gain? It wouldn't hurt to ring your midwife in the morning for advice

Thanks Sagabauer, Yes you’re right. Was using size 0 bottle. After writing this post, tried feeding with size 1 but the teat’s too big for her to suck. Finally I tried using the cow&gate teat that NHS uses and their small 50ml bottle - she actually finished the same bottle in the same time she would have had only 20 ml from Mam bottle. Regarding Jaundice, do you know how to check as her nose, side of her lips and chin go a bit yellow but then they go red again.

Usually if you press the skin you can kind of see it's yellow. But if it isn't overly obvious I wouldn't worry, it's just sometimes if a baby gets too jaundiced they become sleepy and lethargic so feed less. Are you seeing your midwife soon?
