Losing interest in feeds

Has anyone experienced lack of interest in feeding at around 5 months?

DD turned 5 months on Monday. For the last 2 weeks she has gradually reduced the amount of milk she has been taking. She was having 5 feeds of 6-8 oz every day. Over the last week she cut out a feed so was having 4 6-7 oz feeds, and the last two days she has only had 3 feeds of 6-7 oz!!

She's still sleeping through and is hungry when she wakes around 7 am, but the rest of the day goes 4-5 hours between feeds, and often refuses the feed when offered.

She's sleepy - takes 3 naps of 1-2 hours every day - but she has never been able to stay awake for more than 2.5 hours at a time.

She has had a cold and a stomach bug in the last 3 weeks (although the only remaining sign of illness now is a cough).

We haven't started solids yet, but I was thinking maybe that might get her eating again.

Any ideas or experiences shared are hugely appreciated!

Thanks, Yorkiegirl! I think your post is the answer - we've switched back to ready-mix as DD was throwing up non-stop on powder. As it's thicker, the ready mix is staying down better, but as a result must be filling her up.

Will consult HV next time I see her, but in the meantime your message has eased definitely eased my fears of DD withering away!
