Topping up...but which formula?!

My DD is now 9 weeks old and has been exclusively breastfed so far. She has cystic fibrosis and due to that & needing a little flexibility we introduced one bottle feed each day, which she takes happily (expressed milk). But I really have v little time to express with a toddler & other demands & so want to give her formula for the one bottle per day. Dietician tried us with a pre-digested formula but DD really didn't take to it (even when mixed with my EBM) so she said to just try any 'normal' formula... any recommendations? Which one tastes most like breast milk??!

Thanks xx

We used aptamil which is said to taste like breastmilk and DS seemed to like it - in fact he preferred it to breastmilk! (though this was later on, at 6 months-ish)

My HV recommended Aptamil and my little one got on well with it.

They all taste fishy, tbh....

My ds2 preferred Farleys.

(I have heard Hipp Organic is the sweetest and tastiest, btw - not cheap but for one feed a day it might be worth it)

my ds has sma. you can buy cartons of each one and ask her which she prefers. arf arf.

Ds had aptamil and got on really well with it. Most of the mums I know that have used formula have used it and would all recommend it.

EscapeFrom · 30/08/2007 20:50

aptamil gave ds2 a really really farty bum, then he refused it, so I will be the voice of dissent here

dd has the odd bottle of Hipp organic 2. It does taste pretty sweet, creamier than bm. We actually found it was the cheapest option in boots - £4.90something I think.

imnot27 · 30/08/2007 20:56

we liked Hipp organic best. If you look round someone always has it on offer, usually Tesco or superdrug!

Thanks ladies, I actually had to buy some formula before I could get back online, and tried the Cow & Gate Organic First Milk, and amazingly the little minx took it with no probs at all (unlike the pre-digested formula!). So hopefully that'll do us. xx
