Can you not just ask to buy a tray full of smaller cartons from there ? You won't get any bulk discounts anyway as it is illegal to promote infant formula milk.

costco? macro?

fick · 29/08/2007 18:40

You wont find it in large quantities because the safety hasnt been researched as safe.

chipmonkey · 29/08/2007 19:29

But if it's safe to give them one carton, surely it must be safe to give them more than one?

TattyCatty · 29/08/2007 19:30

Do you mean lots of cartons or large cartons? The biggest carton you can get of ready made formula is 600ml, which makes sense because once it is opened you need to use it within 24 hours. I assume that all you have seen are the smaller 200ml cartons. I used Cow and Gate and just used to snap up lots of the larger cartons whenever I saw them on the shelves, as my DD point blank refused to drink formula made from powder. Turned out to be a very expensive first 12 months for somebody who fully intended to BF, grrr!

The larger size was sometimes hard to find, but probably worth asking if there is any in the stockroom at supermarket. BTW, have never heard that ready made is regarded as anything other than safe. In fact, when I first switched, I was advised by my midwives that ready made was considered to be safer than making bottles up.

if you ask somewhere like tesco or whatever supermarket you use they may be able to order a bulk load in for you.

daisythedog · 29/08/2007 19:55

Do you mean lots of the 7 ounce cartons? I order about 60 at a time from Ocado. They come in cases of 15.

fick · 29/08/2007 21:19

Sorry, I thought it was meant that the OP was after larger sized cartons, not many cartons.

meandmy · 29/08/2007 21:21

I suppose you could order then at your local chemist i always found it very difficult to buy ready made in large quantities i used to try get at least 4days then go out again to get more midweek!

fawkeoff · 29/08/2007 21:24

surely mothercare will stock or babies r us

Hun123 · 05/09/2007 16:32

I have found them at macro, they come as 15 cartons (200ml). Thanks for all the advice.
