Hi All,

I have just noticed I have a white blister type on the end of my nipple. Have been getting pain feeding on this side for a few days now and have been pumping more from this side than feeding due to the pain.

I ahev also noticed on the last few hours that my breasts are hard at the top even tho I have pumped and fed DS on this side in the last few hours.

Does anyone have any advice. Thanks in advance.

Have you spoken to a BFC Emily?

Have you got the helpline numbers?

Sounds like it could be a blocked duct? Can you scratch the white bit off the skin and try to massage any blockage out? A warm bath with Epsom salts should help. If it is blocked you need to try and get it sorted asap as you can get mastitis.
Do you have a temperature or feel unwell too?

Something like this lanolin for the blister.

Seek advice from breastfeeding support locally or online with a national organisation.

It'll get better. I would try and get the little one to feed from it too as they are more efficient than a pump.

Thanks got the replies. I will give breastfeedinh support tomorrow as it 8s still a holiday up here today.
I have tried to scratch off the head of the blister but with now success.
Currently sitting with a hot water bottle on it to try and see if this will help.

The National BFing Helpline is open until 9.30 pm OP. Might be worth giving them a quick call Thanks

Sounds like a bleb, google it, I had to burst mine with a sterile needle!

WishUponAStar88 · 02/01/2020 21:20

I’m sure not recommended but I had these a couple of time and squeezed them. Excruciatingly painful but the relief after was so good!

Sounds like a bleb. Worst name ever but quite common. It's fine to carefully pop it and squeeze the milk out.
The rocks feeling means your boob is over full. It's not a reason to panic but you do want to try to get rid of it through feeding / pumping (whilst also massaging your boob) before it gets worse as that can lead to mastitis which is pretty painful. Bf is going to be more effective than pumping to release milk. I know it's rubbish if it hurts. Blebs can be sore! Heat is good too for easing the ache as well as the cream but also the gel pads are great - if expensive.
