Having weathered the 2-week nursing strike, now ds (19 weeks) is latching on, then BLOWING. Sometimes raspberries. Then smiling up at me as if to say, "Aren't I clever!"

That's when he can be bothered feeding, instead of looking around at every damn thing in the room!

Please tell me the looking around thing settles down at some point? He is going very long periods during the day because he'd rather play than feed.

thanks domesticgrumpess (brill name btw!) He is still gaining weight though he didn't during the strike, guess that's what has me worried. The blowing thing is pretty funny but I still want him to get some tucker!

yes it will pass. you just have to keep offering and grit your teeth. the smiling up is supercute, but annoying I know when you really want them to feed

the rule with babies: if it's crap it'll pass. And if it's good it'll pass too, so make the most of it

Mine has been fabulous for about 9 days, but last night and today is back to bad sleeping and faffing - but I can feel a sharp little piece of tooth in his mouth tonight; hopefully his pesky first tooth is FINALLY coming through.

think it may be time for you to get a Nursing Necklace This certainly got my dd to focus more on feeding rather than the dust particles floating past! Only thing is, it may slightly increase the length of feeds as they are facinated with the shapes,colours and textures.

I loved the blowing raspberries stage i found it really cute.

we were out yesterday so he didn't feed for 7 hours . See if I ever take him to Hay on Wye again!

PMSL at inflatable!! My ds is 22 months and goes through rapsberry phases when feeding.

Yesterday, he was blowing on my breast and flapping at the elbow and it really looked for all the world like he was playing the bagpipes!!

okay listen up those of you who said "nursing necklace", my ds has a message for you!

He says, "thank you for telling my mummy to wear something soooooooo pretty! It's soooooooo pretty, I couldn't possibly feed while she's wearing it! In fact, it's soooooooo pretty, I think I'd rather suck on that than anything else!"

My DS does the looking round thing too.. usually while still clamped on to my nip.... yeouch. If the world is proving too interesting I try chucking a muslin over his head so that there's nothing interesting to see... although he does end up looking like one of Michael Jackson's kids..

tried that - it made him furious!
